Purely Atmospheric...

M83 is truly a unique act created by Anthony Gonzalez. Named from the spiral galaxy, Messier 83, how can your music not be atmospheric? Anthony Gonzalez ties Shoe graze, Dream pop, and Electronic music all into a tightly knitted and perfect ball, creating his own genre of music. His galaxy quest started long before The Black Eyed Peas found The E.N.D. Long before Kanye broke his 808s and Heartbreak and American pop artists decided to change their form of making music, Gonzalez was way ahead of them in a completely different galaxy, literally.

He hails from France, so you can assume that's where his Electronic roots broke seed. He stepped into prominence in 2001 with his self-titled debut. Each album he has put out since then, sound more and more ethereal. His style of writing is like poetic and he makes music that will flow right along with those words and free your scalp. Whether it is an instrumental song, or if it only has two lines in it, you are bound to feel the mass of it. He write from mostly everything, love, the destruction caused by us, saving the world, and teen angst.

He dedicated a whole album to the time in his life when he felt the happiest, his adolescence. It's ironic he'll say that, since everyone tell me, it was the worst period of their life. To be honest I believe it is the time when you are the most honest with yourself and the things and people around you. It's the time where most of us fell in love with music. I feel in love a bit earlier, but I've learned to appreciate all genres now. You discover things everyday in your youth. Saturday is the most important day of the week. It is the day that us, the youth, completely own. It serves as a friendly reminder to adults of their own youth. Saturday = Youth was the best album I feel M83 came out with. It is a celebration of adolescence all in one, ranging from angst, love, to lost. Whether his philosophy of the idea of youth = wasted and gilded, he still discovered his first love, a love that will never divorce him.

Here's my favorite song off the album.
