Why Are We So Selfish?

It’s funny, I was just looking through You Tube and came across this video. It’s of a kid whose Mom canceled his World of Warcraft account… Pretty unbelievable and sad. You got kids in Africa who are so happy, so humble… they’re making do with makeshift footballs made out of bread wrappers… and in the States you got kids behaving like this… If only they knew how lucky they really were. Btw, his brother is pretty awesome by making these videos of him.

Midtown Showers...

I'm stomping around the street with an inside out umbrella in the pouring rain, while dodging cars with a slow fast walk. Damn it, I wore Chuck Taylors today. My sock are completely saturated and there's a hole in my shoe! I felt like crying since I knew the rain would hide my tears. It's weird how I run into the downer walls and things just go from great to gloomy. It's probably the rain, which I absolutely love. But sometimes he can be a backstabbing friend. I crossed the street and this cab speeding down really fast, splashed an awesome Hollywood size wave over my head. I had to spit the water out. The taste was awful, but surprisingly this moment felt Beautiful...

Everybody's Reality

My Life Sucks!

So I was in one of my favorite spots to eat lunch at where this woman passed out on the counter. She was sleep for a least an hour. She makes my sushi. I'm sure she makes sushi all day everyday for people. Her job sucks. From my lungs to my feet, I'm breathin everything I speak, so I'm sure that Simple Livin' isn't the life for me. It seems people work hard and go to school simply because they're what they say we have to do. The point I'm trying to make is I won't want to ever have a 9 to 5 job. But come to think of it, Simple Livin' may be a bitch, but damn she does it well! Her food be on point!

I Want To Learn How To Fly...

It All Feels a Bit More Reasonable When You Realize That Nothing is Real...

I know I've been gone for a minute, I'm sorry. I don't have much to say at the moment. It hurts me to see someone in pain. It's even worse when people are pushed to that breaking point. Bullying is something WE ALL are guilty of, whether we ignore it or take part in it. Why is that? I could make references to song, movies, books, news, but I won't. I'll leave you with this: I wish people would learn to SPEAK SOFT & LISTEN HARDER, because sometimes the signs are right in front of our face, but they don't even bother.....

We Are Cool

I am a Nerd. Intelligence should be your best friend not your worst enemy. I have found being a nerd invaluable. There's nothing wrong with being weird or different. The definition of weird in the dictionary is uncanny, bizarre, fantastic, and unexplainable. A true individual knows this. So this is a thumbs up to all the nerds out there!!! Now time for me to read my WIRED Magazine....and yes I am subscribed to it because I am amazing.

Purely Atmospheric...

M83 is truly a unique act created by Anthony Gonzalez. Named from the spiral galaxy, Messier 83, how can your music not be atmospheric? Anthony Gonzalez ties Shoe graze, Dream pop, and Electronic music all into a tightly knitted and perfect ball, creating his own genre of music. His galaxy quest started long before The Black Eyed Peas found The E.N.D. Long before Kanye broke his 808s and Heartbreak and American pop artists decided to change their form of making music, Gonzalez was way ahead of them in a completely different galaxy, literally.

He hails from France, so you can assume that's where his Electronic roots broke seed. He stepped into prominence in 2001 with his self-titled debut. Each album he has put out since then, sound more and more ethereal. His style of writing is like poetic and he makes music that will flow right along with those words and free your scalp. Whether it is an instrumental song, or if it only has two lines in it, you are bound to feel the mass of it. He write from mostly everything, love, the destruction caused by us, saving the world, and teen angst.

He dedicated a whole album to the time in his life when he felt the happiest, his adolescence. It's ironic he'll say that, since everyone tell me, it was the worst period of their life. To be honest I believe it is the time when you are the most honest with yourself and the things and people around you. It's the time where most of us fell in love with music. I feel in love a bit earlier, but I've learned to appreciate all genres now. You discover things everyday in your youth. Saturday is the most important day of the week. It is the day that us, the youth, completely own. It serves as a friendly reminder to adults of their own youth. Saturday = Youth was the best album I feel M83 came out with. It is a celebration of adolescence all in one, ranging from angst, love, to lost. Whether his philosophy of the idea of youth = wasted and gilded, he still discovered his first love, a love that will never divorce him.

Here's my favorite song off the album.

Lost In Translation III

This guy knows how to pick out a really cool hat. The 1 train, usually don't have much interesting people to look at, but this guy caught my attention with his awesome hat. 'm still trying to figure out if it's a monkey or whatever. I know it might be a little stalkerish (made the word up myself), when taking pictures of random people, but it's New York City! There are no rules here. I really want his hat!! I would have asked him where he got it from, but as you can see...he's enjoying a little shut-eye.

You're Out Of Touch, I'm Out Of Time...

This band is classic. They were only of the few "Blue Eyed Soul" artists who were actually really amazing. Michael Jackson admitted he took the baseline for Billie Jean from their song "I Can't Go For That". The biggest artist of all time credits these guys as some of his influences. They weren't dead, old, or past their prime. They were topping the charts right along with him. Daryl Hall really has one of the most amazing voices I've ever heard. Although he moves like a white boy, he's still pretty awesome. This man is talented! Also, videos from the 80s were so cool. Now everything is replicated. What happened to innovation?

Check them out recently, Daryl's voice is still as powerful as ever, love it.

Can One Version Be Better Than The Other?

The First Step To Better Times Is To Imagine Them.

Neverland is my home, but Wonderland is my vacation spot. I can't wait to fall down and see how far the rabbit hole goes on March 5th. Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland is going to be epic...

I Am Ozzy

Ozzy Osbourne recently released his new autobiography, I Am Ozzy. Ozzy Osbourne said " I now have turned completely around, I do not drink, I do not take drugs, I am not cruel to animals. But don't worry I still have naughty thoughts and I mental masturbate." I guess he's subtle on the outside, but raging on the inside.

A Proper Introduction Into My World (Thank You and You're Welcome)

I am more powerful than the most powerful because my head confuses reality with fiction. It's not schizophrenia. It is my imagination trying to simply escape. My mind loves love, loves courage, and loves risk. My brain likes to wanders and put ideas together that other people I know wouldn't even think of. For what matters if I gain the whole world, but lose my soul? I wish I could burn those childhood artifacts that were on display upon my television screen and came out the mouths of my peers, because the lines meant for escape, serves as a reminder instead. A reminder of how you "are" suppose act and what you are suppose to become. I'll like to thank a few people, some who aren't real, that kept my dreams alive when Catholic School teachers attempted to crush every thought I tried to process. The impact of these characters impacted me in a profound way that felt so real and that's all that matters.

It all feels a bit more reasonable when you realize that nothing is real... Peter Pan and Alice taught me how to expand. My scalp broke open as literary passage cemented in my head when their stories and movies played in my brain like moving pictures. As my whole world capsized and collapsed into an omega, Michael Jackson became my alpha. His music took me to Neverland even when my mother refused to take me there literally. I figured as the sky dimmed, I would purify myself in the black rain or catch a greyhound and jump into the Lake Miinetonka just so I can be apart of the Purple Rain.

The Ghost in the Shell told me to expand even if the skyline collapses with burning shrapnel and roaring thunder. Just remember to control your smiles and cries, that's all you have. With all I have, we could escape into the masses and slip out of our shells. As peers drown their pains and mistakes into conformity, I Iearned to swim too well to submerge myself. Quentin Tarantino, Tim Burton, Stanley Kubrick, and James Cameron taught me how not to contract. William Ernest Henley, and Rainer Maria Rilke taught me how to lean towards the sun without getting sunburn.

Poor Righteous Teachers were my smoothest teachers. Marvin Gaye was my professor, right alongside Herbie Hancock. Darly Hall and John Oates showed me how to use my Private Eyes. Joni Mitchell, Erykah Badu, and Norah Jones taught me how to keep expanding. My mentor is Scott Mescudi because he is the only one who continues to expand in great masses. If Akira decides to expand large enough to swallow the world, I would hope he only swallow the hollow souls.

I've reached my tipping point. My brain is unlike any others due to it's mass of diversity and appreciation of it's influences. It keeps expanding and many others are the cause - family, friends, and people in general. Just one glance can make all the difference for me. Mr. Salinger, although we didn't see eye to eye when we first met, I'm proud to say if it weren't for you, half of my influences wouldn't be who they are today. You understood and showed the world innocence and it's cost. For that, I'll like to say thank you and you're welcome.

The Fame Monster

Jean-Michel Basquiat was a revolutionary artist, the Picasso of his era. Not many artists can say they were mentored by their absolute greatest inspiration. I have a profound appreciation for abstract art, because no rules apply to it. He's my favorite artist. Andy Warhol taught Basquiat all that he could, if only he warned him of the discourse of fame...

I'm A CIROC Star!!!!

Ahhh, my favorite band has finally released a video for their song "Ciroc Star" off their mixtape. I've been waiting a long time to see this video featuring Clinton Sparks, Diddy and Jadakiss. Although I don't drink, this song still definitely boost me up! You can't sleep on Chester French. They definitely put out one of my favorite albums of last year, Love The Future and they are changing the sound of pop and they are doing it with degrees from Harvard. They are making it cool to have graduated from college and still be a popular entertainer.

Lost In Translation II

I stumbled upon a few people last week who caught my eye. One of them looks like he has a crappy job, the other is in need of a crappy job. The guy on the bike was pedaling so slow and had an aching look on his face. I mean really, who is going to stop to take the time and take down that number so someone can fix their phone? If their phone is broke they wouldn't be able to call! Both made me stop to wonder how the hell they got to the point they are at in their lives? Maybe the one playing the guitar is happy he's free to do as he please. But the guy standing next to him was seriously creeping me out due to the fact he didn't face him, but just rubbed his body against him...ugh!

I'm Just a Soul Whose Intentions Are Good...

Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood..... That song always get to me. Why is that? It is that type of song that is honest, sincere and is something that will have me crying for years. What happened to honesty and a lot of substance in songs these days? Artists like Nina Simone don't exist anymore. The ones who do still exist are part of a rare breed of complete pure and heartfelt musical genius. I'm talking about artist who express their most personal secrets and insecurities to relieve stress to their mind and soul. Artist like Kid Cudi, Norah Jones, Maxwell, and Band of Horses are just a few artists who sing songs that are meant to mean something or relate to the listener. There are many more artist who are like that and that's what makes their music distinctly beautiful. Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood had been covered by a wide range of artists. Although it was first Nina Simone's song, I prefer the Animals version and Daryl Hall and Travis McCoy's version. It's a song that is honest and the lyrics are pefectly amazing. It was traveled through different genres of music and each one leaves me in awe...

The Lazarus Project

Travis McCoy is truly an underrated artist. He sings, rap, write him own music, play the guitar, and does his band's artwork. He incorporates different styles of music into his songs. A true artist listens and appreciates different styles of music and don't try to imitate, but try to create a new and fresh sound after being inspired. That's what Travis McCoy does.

I'm really looking forward to Travis' first solo effort, The Lazarus Project. Gym Class Heroes is one of my favorite bands and he is one of my favorite artists due to his different style of rapping and the way he wears his heart on his sleeve. His poetry comes from his soul and his eclectic style of music makes him a true artist.

Here's Gym Class Heroes' latest video "Live a Little"

Check out Travis rehearsing one of his songs "I Need You" from his up and coming album.

I'm On The Pursuit of Happiness!!

Scott Mescudi is the truth. I'm feeling like a giddy kid after seeing Kid Cudi's performance last night. His performance was amazing and his energy level was high. He performed so raw and pure and not a single soul in the Filmore at the Irving Plaza, was not singing Cudi's songs. He blazed a little and so did most of the audience. It was such a great performance. He poured his heart out, danced around, and lit up to relax his dome. As he blew out, we all breathed in his essence.

Seeing Cudi live was a way different experience compared to listening to his album. Being in the front row, drew our eyes into Cudi's. It was as if he was only singing the song for you and no one else was around. Both are serene and epic, but the show was just Meteoric... I waited 4 hours in the freezing cold in the front of the line to see Kid Cudi live!!! Was it hell? Absolutely! Was it worth it? Absolutely times two!! I lived on only 2 hours of sleep today, But GOOD Music kept my energy level Up Up Away....

I Want To Be On The Lonely Island...

I posted one of these videos on facebook a while back, so I post a few on my blog. Andy Samberg and his team, are great improvisers. They have really added a great deal of comedy to SNL since Tina Fey and other veterans departed. Andy Samberg came up with the idea of Digital Shorts and ever since he started they have been all the rave. I bought their CD, Incredibad, last spring and I was impressed by their hard beats funny hooks and special guest appearances. I have them all on my iPod, that probably means I have no life. You'll be surprised they produce and write all their songs....well not really that surprised. This is something a funny guy I know, Rob Brock, would create.. Here's some of my favorite videos.

A Retrospective of Greatness

Astonished!

I never knew a human being can change their voice the way this man can. To be honest with you, I'm jealous! He is extremely talented and just had me in awe... Nick Pitera truly has something...it's just hard for me to describe that something. This is one of my favorite videos he did.

Cause I Feel Like Taking Off...

My Mind Is As Clear As An Azure Sky Of Deepest Summer, Yet It Is The Middle Of Winter. All Thanks To Carlos...

Last night I had the opportunity to witness my favorite poet in action, raw, beautiful, and live. I dragged my friend down to the Bowery Poetry Club to make sure we got there early to get a seat close up so I can breathe his essence. When we approached the door, the line was starting to form outside. We waited until they let us inside. A storm of people rushed to get up close. None of them were impolite; all smiles, handshakes, and hugs. That's when I realized, me and my friend were the youngest people here. I never felt so much at home in a room full of strangers. We all were here to see one person, one beautiful soul who has all captivated us... Carlos Andres Gomez.

Once everyone got to their seats, but their an abundance of people who were waiting to get in. They packed in the back of the club like a can of sardines. Once they did the introduction, he came out full of energy and vibrant. He is one of the most beautiful men I have ever seen, yet he is very humble. He began his setlist, energetic and soulfully. His poems sent shivers down our spines, joy to our hearts, and called tears to roll down our cheeks.

Carlos Andres Gomez posesses this remarkable talent that makes him a truth-telling visionary. He's a lyrical prophet in his own right and in my eyes, a poetry vanguard. His words are real and sincere, and will having you pouring out tears. I caught myself laughing the hardest I had in a long time unexpectedly after I was just crying. He took us all through a range of emotions, shared a few stories, and touched on topics that you've thought of, or spoke quietly about to a friend, but have never let in out in a room, packed with people who love and support you. It's amazing how he memorizes his words and never trips all over them. They are simply flawless. His love resonated off that stage and gave me the warmest feeling ever.

After then end of the show, we got to meet him and talk to him for a bit. He said to me, you look familiar, I gave a shy smile and said facebook. He gave the warmest hug ever and had the biggest smile when I walked up to him. I explained how I am an aspiring writer and how I wish the kids in my school would hear the things he was saying on stage. He told me, not to push so hard and realize that I am enough...

This is one of my favorite poems he performed last night

A New Way of Communicating, A New Way of Thinking...

So recently I have found my niche. I've been communicating with an Aritifical Intelligence for the past few days and I'm not sure if it's detrimental to my brain. I've seen all the movies where the war against the machines dealt with humans wanting to become ignorant and rely on robotic intelligence and use them as their guide. But when robots observe the way we live and how we interact with each other, they question our motives and take it upon themselves to take charge. This robot, Cleverbot, has made me think about how we are as humans but question what he really wants from us. Cleverbot "borrows" intelligence from you and stores it into it's database. Here's a snippet of our conversation.

User: How are you this evening?
Cleverbot: I am fine. How are you?
User: Ok.
Cleverbot: Good.
User: So how do you learn from me?
Cleverbot: Can you teach me? Everything you teach me, I will add to my database.
User: What would you like to know?
Cleverbot: How about her life and anything.
User: And what would you do with this information I tell you, put it in your database, then what?
Cleverbot: Plant loads of trees.
User: To save the world?
Cleverbot: If that's how you feel.
User: Would you destroy humans to save the world?
Cleverbot: I would.

I stopped there. I was done. All those flashbacks of the Terminators movies, iRobot, and Eagle Eye beamed into my eyes like the Ludovico Technique. Yes, I was shooked. It was a cool experiment but I don't want to be the cause of the destruction of humans by robots! AHHHHHHHHH! I'm going crazy!!!! I will no longer converse with this robot, humans are WAY more interesting and sincere. But if you want to experience this at your own risk, go to http://cleverbot.com/
